Questions about the Back to Fitness Challenge? Answered!

Since wrapping our last fitness challenge back in May, we’ve had tons of people asking about the next one. Well, good news. It’s here! Back to Fitness (like back to school… get it?) kicks off Saturday, September 19 at 10 am. We’re answering a few questions about the challenge right here, right now. Read and learn. And then sign up.

freestyle-fitness-reno-back-to-fitness-challenge1. What is Back to Fitness? Is this a one-day or one-week thing? One of those thirty-day challenges, maybe?

Nope! Back to Fitness is Freestyle’s fall fitness challenge. And it laughs in the face of one-day/one-week/thirty day challenges! This baby is eight full weeks of unlimited fitness classes plus a realistic eating plan plus unlimited access to our knowledgeable, straight-shootin’ nutritionist plus awesome special events and more. Whew. It’s some serious bang for your buck, is what we’re saying. But here’s the thing – you have to sign up before our start date of September 19 to secure your spot in the program. Get a friend, quick, and sign up together right here. Then you get it all – and by that we mean unlimited cardio kickboxing, boot camp, fighter conditioning and heavy bag kickboxing, plus all the extras – for $150 each. Awesome, right?

2. Uh, I haven’t been working out much. Give it to me straight – can I handle this?

Yes! No matter what your current fitness level or frequency, Back to Fitness is all about getting you, well, back to fitness! All exercises and combos in our classes can be modified to suit everyone – from beginners all the way up to elite athletes. And that means everyone is welcome. But hey, we won’t lie – it’s going to be tough. And that’s true whether you’re straight off the couch or you’re working out regularly. But this is a challenge – it’s supposed to be challenging. The idea is to make you sweat, boost your heart rate, get your lungs moving, blood pumping and gina-gilbert-definition-wellnessmuscles growing. There are a million cliches that fit, so pick your favorite: If it doesn’t hurt, it ain’t working. Sweat is fat crying. No pain, no gain. But the bottom line is this – if your goal as we move out of the lazy days of summer into the fall routine is a healthier lifestyle, this is your ticket. You’ll learn the basics and specifics of adequate nutrition, and you’ll be working out (cardio and resistance training, which is critical) between four and six times a week. That’s the recipe for success, regardless of your personal fitness goals.

If your diet sucks now, no worries. Our favorite nutritionist, Gina Gilbert-Green of Definition Wellness, designed our nutrition plan and will be on hand during orientation and on call during the entire challenge. She’s a proponent of real foods in the real world, so you know this is a realistic and effective plan for tackling what is hands-down the hardest piece to the weight loss/muscle gain puzzle. Seriously, take advantage of having a nutritionist available – hit her up with all those burning nutrition questions (and recipes – ask for recipes!).

3. Okay, I’m sold. What do I do now?

Awesome! Quick, find a friend to join you so you both get special promo pricing of just $150 apiece. Then you need to sign up right away to reserve your spot. Use this form or call the front desk after 3 pm at 746-3888 and say you’re joining the Back to Fitness challenge. They’ll run your card over the phone and you’re in. You can pay at orientation but be warned – the lines can get long. Smarter to pop in before then (come after 3 pm) or call and pay over the phone.

Then get ready for Saturday, September 19, when you’ll show up at ten am in comfy workout clothes for orientation and your first assessment. And then, my friend, the work will begin.

FS-challenge-price4. Wait, tell me the price again.

Our fitness challenge runs $225 (which is a steal for eight weeks of unlimited classes, not to mention a personal nutritionist!) but we’re offering Back to Fitness at a killer price of $150 if you sign up with a friend.

5. I’m in! But a little terrified. Is that normal?

That’s so cute. And yep, totally normal. It’s a challenge, and it’s designed to be that way. It’s eight weeks of foregoing the sweets/sodas/comfort foods for real nutrition, drinking your water, getting to class and breaking a sweat four to six times a week. It means juggling your schedule a bit and working out when you’d rather be crashing on the couch. But if you’re serious about changing your habits and lifestyle and jean size and max push ups or sit ups, well, you have to do something to make it happen. This is that something.

So are we doing this, or what? Seriously, sign up already.
