Three Benefits of Tracking Your Macros

freestyle-fitness-reno-tracking-macros-summer-blitzWe’re generating a little buzz with our next fitness challenge, Summer Blitz, and it’s all because of the nutrition component. During this 30-day challenge, our participants will be tracking their macros to meet targets appropriate to their body composition, daily activity level and goals. But what’s the deal with macros? Good question! Here are three benefits to tracking your macros.

what are macros again?

Remember, macros (macronutrients) are the carbs, fats and proteins we eat. Everyone has an ideal amount of macros they should consume in a day, and they’ll vary based on fitness goals (bulking up, leaning out, improving performance, etc.). When you start tracking macros, it’s easy to see where you’re getting too little or too much of something. But that’s not all.

the thing about tracking macros

There are three valuable benefits to tracking your macros, and the first is the perspective shift. Suddenly, calories aren’t the end-all, be-all. Instead of obsessing over quantity, you’ll start looking at quality. And when the quality of your foods improves, so does your health.

The second benefit to tracking macros is the clarity you gain. Many people are truly stunned at the nutrients they’re consuming. In general, we may think we’re eating healthfully, but when it’s all there in black and white, things quickly become clear. Most of us aren’t eating enough protein and getting way too much fat in our daily diet.

Benefit three to tracking macros is knowledge, pure and simple. It’s empowering to know not only what your body needs to stay nourished, but how to make it happen. This isn’t about following a rigid meal plan, or the ever-popular and unfortunately vague “eating clean.” It’s about making healthy choices to get the right combination of fats, proteins and carbs in your diet, full stop.

During the Summer Blitz, we’re calculating target macros for each participant. They’ll be shared during orientation on Saturday, July 8 at 9:30 pm. We’ll be using an online app to track macros, and we’ll explain exactly how to use it during orientation. You’ll also get a meal guide that can be tailored to suit your macros. It’s not a meal plan you have to follow, but more of a launching point to get you started. We’ll also be sharing recipes on a locked challenger Facebook page during the Summer Blitz.

All of the usual benefits of our 30-day challenges also apply:

  • 30 days of unlimited fitness classes, with an incentive to hit 24 classes to earn a free month if you’re a non-member
  • Unlimited access to our nutritionist, Morgan Vitti, via phone, text, email or Facebook for all those burning nutrition questions
  • Meal guide, weekly challenger email and access to our locked Facebook page for tips, recipes, encouragement and support
  • Measurements and fitness assessment on day one and day thirty to track your progress
  • Trainer support and encouragement every step of the way

Non-members can join the challenge for $175, or join with a friend to save $25. Members, you pay for $50 to join the Summer Blitz, and we encourage you all to do so.

Nutrition is the hardest part of the health and wellness journey, simply because eating is tied into so many things. It’s emotional and social, and that makes it a tricky thing to navigate.

If you’re willing to put in the work in the gym, you deserve to see results. And without making changes to nutrition, you won’t see the results you want. Join the Summer Blitz now, and let’s make those changes.

Note – all participants must be paid and registered by July 1 so we have time to calculate those macros. Don’t wait!
