Freestyle Fitness is no stranger to 30-day fitness challenges, but we’re changing things up to keep it fresh. The Summer Blitz kicks off July 8 (with all challengers paid and registered by July 1), and this time, the nutrition focus is on individual target macros. We’re also bringing a new nutritionist on board to answer your questions and help you hit those macros.
Meet Morgan Vitti
She’s working toward her degree in Nutrition-Dietetics at UNR and gearing up for her DTR credentialing, but it’s her day-to-day stuff that really makes Morgan a great resource for all things nutrition. She works at Gymrat Foods, a local food prep company, has certifications through NASM and USPA, and as a powerlifter herself, she knows her way around the fridge and pantry.
“My passion is helping people complement their fitness routine with proper nutrition in order to optimize their results,” Morgan says, and that’s a big deal. We say it all the time – you can’t out-train a bad diet, but you can easily undo all your hard work in the gym with poor nutrition.
nutrition is everything
“Nutrition is everything,” Morgan says. “I cannot emphasize that enough. You can put hours into the gym and train seven days a week but throw everything away with what you put in to your body. Here’s a little reality check – whether your goals are to lose weight, put on muscle, lean out, whatever, you will not reach them by solely spending time in the gym.”
So what do you suggest, Morgan?
“Commit to fueling your body with the proper micro and macro nutrients day in and day out,” she says. “It comes down to saying no to the donuts at work and eating a cup of fruit instead. It’s skipping your morning Starbucks ritual and drinking home brewed coffee instead. It’s choosing water over other drinks every time. But most importantly, it’s choosing yourself. Our bodies are capable of amazing things. Just imagine what they can do when we are fueling them properly.”
And during the Summer Blitz, that’s what we’re showing you how to do.
the magic of tracking macros
“Counting your macros is the best way to start your fitness/health journey,” Morgan advises. “I always tell my clients to track everything they put into their bodies for one week into an app like MyFitnessPal. This way, you can get an idea of what exactly they eat and it gives me an idea of areas that need a little TLC. For anyone who is new to tracking their macros, prepare to probably be shocked. More often than not, people think they are eating healthy and then are surprised to see the actual macro, micro, and caloric break down of what they have been eating. Don’t let this scare you though. Eating healthy can feel daunting, but I’m here to help you every step of the way and I promise you it will be worth it!”
join the summer blitz
Anyone joining the Summer Blitz will not only have their target macros calculated and meal guides prepared by Morgan that can be tailored to suit those macros, but access to Morgan herself. You have questions? Great, she has answers. And for the duration of this 30-day fitness challenge, she’s on hand to help you nail your nutrition.
Like many things, good nutrition is a habit. Commit to 30 days of doing this right, and you’ll be stunned at the change. Don’t do it for the bikini body. Do it for you. And do it now. Space is limited, so don’t wait.
