You know what they say about the best-laid plans. The new cardio class we’ve been hyping recently is off the schedule, effective immediately. The roll-out didn’t go as planned, but that’s the thing about cardio kickboxing. It’s harder than it seems.
The good news is that we’re sticking with what works, and that’s good ol’ resistance training. Give it a go in TBX, the thirty-minute version of Total Body that focuses on resistance. You know the deal – muscles are important, and structured sets with multiple reps to break down those fibers so they can come back stronger are just the ticket. Here’s a little refresher about the importance of muscle, no matter who you are:
- Boosted metabolic rate: The more muscle on your frame, the higher your resting heart rate. And that means even when you’re doing nothing at all, you’re still burning calories.
- Increased bone density: Muscle mass strengthens connective tissue, which increases bone density. That reduces your risk of injury and your odds of developing osteoporosis when you’re older.
- You’ll look good, too: Muscle weighs more than fat, so with consistent training, the number on the scale may creep up, but your pant size will likely drop.
For now, TBX is offered Mondays at 6 am as an alternative to Throwdown, so get to class and get to shaping that physique.
