Here’s the Big Secret to Fitness

And we’re looking around at all these gym deals and promos and specials, all this “New Year, New You!” propaganda, and we want to clarify something important. Here’s the big secret to fitness.

The single most important thing you can do to improve your health this year – any year – is simply to eat better. Now, nutrition and fitness are two sides of the same coin. You’ll add years to your life and improve your health with a balanced diet, but thoughtful, effective, consistent movement is also important for a strong body. Think of it like this – for most of us, it’s 90% nutrition and 10% exercise.

The hard part for many of us is figuring out how to clean up our diet. Sure, there’s the obvious stuff – cutting out the soda, the empty snack foods, the pizza and takeout. Eating more vegetables. But then people start to get a little lost. They compare protein powders without really knowing what they’re looking for. They buy chicken breasts and get really sick of eating those by day four.
