Freestyle Fitness may be known around town for high-intensity workouts, but we’re hip to whole yin yang balance thing, and, well, customized stretching routines are just the ticket after pounding heavy bags and chucking medicine balls. That’s why yoga is here to stay at Freestyle Fitness – we’ve officially added it to the website (not just the schedule) – and we’re excited to add more classes in the near future. Now, let’s take a closer look at what makes our yoga classes so special.
First – the instructor. Britnei Wade has been teaching yoga for the last six years, and her classes here at Freestyle are blowing up. It makes sense – our fitness classes emphasize forceful strikes, powerful kicks, strong cores, with a focus on strength and flexibility. We throw lots of high impact movements, and that creates a need for mindful stretching, releasing, opening and relaxing.
That brings us to reason number two – Britnei’s yoga classes include specific sequences of exercises and stretches that directly complement both martial arts training and martial arts-inspired workouts. So everything you do in yoga class supports your efforts in Throwdown, Fighters, cardio and boot camp. Awesome, right?
Movements are linked with mindful breathing, and students are encouraged to move at their own pace – progression should come at a natural, comfortable pace.
We welcome all levels and abilities in our yoga classes, and modifications are offered for beginners and more experienced students as well.
Classes begin with grounding, centering mediation, which leads to energizing flows, and finishing with deep floor stretch sequences.
Learn more about our yoga class and check out the schedule to see when you can join us on the mats. And get this – our 7 am class on Fridays is free to all – no fitness membership required. Yep, free yoga, just because feeling so good makes us want to spread the love.
