Sign-ups for our January fitness challenge, Resolve to Evolve, are coming in fast and furious. It’s more than just a truly brilliant Christmas gift – it’s the hands-down best deal in town for anyone ready to get serious about moving into a healthy lifestyle. Here are some burning questions we’ve received and our helpful answers.
1. What is Resolve to Evolve? Is it a one-day thing?
Resolve to Evolve is the name of our annual January fitness challenge, a workout program that spans eight full weeks. By signing up before our start date of January 3 at ten a.m., you’re securing your spot in the program, which gets you unlimited classes of Total Body (resistance), Kardio Kombat (cardio kickboxing) and our thirty-minute Fighters Physique (interval resistance training) for the entire eight-week challenge PLUS a tried-and-true nutrition plan, trainer and instructor support and assessments along the way to track your progress. So, no, not a one-day thing.
2. I haven’t been working out at all/I’ve been doing some running, sort of/I’ve only been lifting weights randomly/My diet isn’t great – will I be able to do this thing?
No matter what your current fitness level or frequency, Resolve to Evolve is an awesome way to start the new year. Everything in our classes can be modified to suit beginners all the way up to elite athletes, which means everyone is welcome. We won’t lie – it’s going to be tough. And that’s true whether you’re straight off the couch or you’re working out regularly. It’s supposed to be challenging. The idea is to make you sweat, to boost your heart rate, get your lungs moving and blood pumping and muscles growing. There are a million cliches to apply here, so choose your favorite: If it doesn’t hurt, it isn’t working. Sweat is your fat crying. But the bottom line is this – if your goal for the new year is a healthier lifestyle, this is where to start. You’ll learn the basics and specifics of adequate nutrition, and you’ll be working out between four and six times a week. That’s the recipe for success, no matter how you define your specific fitness goals.
If your diet sucks now, don’t fret. Our favorite nutritionist, Gina Gilbert-Green of Definition Wellness, designed our nutrition plan and will be on hand during orientation and on call throughout the eight-week program. She’s a proponent of real foods in the real world, meaning this is a realistic and effective plan for tackling what is hands-down the hardest piece to the weight loss/muscle gain puzzle, and her understanding and experience are impressive. Take advantage of having a nutritionist available during the challenge and ask her your questions!
3. What do I need to do?
Sign up now to reserve your spot. Call the front desk after 3 pm at 746-3888 and say you’re calling to join the January fitness challenge. They’ll run your card over the phone and you’re in. Then get ready for January 3, when you’ll show up at ten am in comfy workout clothes for orientation and your first assessment. And then the work will begin.
Our fitness challenges typically cost $198 but we’re offering Resolve to Evolve at a killer price of $99. If you signed up for just one of our unlimited class packages at $49/month, you’d be be paying more for two months of those classes. It’s a complete no-brainer – sign up for the challenge, get everything we have to offer in the way of fitness classes PLUS the nutrition plan and lots of guidance along the way, and you’ll get the benefit of a reduced membership price at Freestyle Fitness after the challenge ends.
5. I’m scared. Should I be scared?
No! Well, maybe just a little bit. It’s a challenge, and it’s designed that way. You’re going to be eating properly, drinking lots of water, and hitting it hard four to six times a week. It might mean juggling your schedule a bit, foregoing your standard fast foods, passing up crappy soda (seriously, that stuff is the worst), working out when you’d rather be crashing on the couch. But if you’re serious about changing your habits and lifestyle and jean size and the number of push ups or sit ups you can do, you have to take steps to make it happen. These are those steps.
So are you in, or what?
