It’s a bold claim – Reno’s best boot camp workout – but we have well over a decade of experience, kick-ass instructors, a solid grounding in martial arts and a whole crew of diehard members to back it up. And let’s be real – while boot camp workouts vary, the basic structure remains the same. It’s an intense mix of strength training and aerobics incorporating old-school calisthenics (think push ups, lunges, crunches, squats, etc.) and intervals. The idea is to rev your heart rate and build strength and stamina. So what makes the Freestyle Fitness boot camp workout stand out?
We call it Total Body, and that’s exactly what you’re working. Let’s break it down.
Class Description & Method
Each sixty-minute class is designed to target all of the major muscle groups with traditional calisthenics, explosive plyometrics, martial arts movements and highly effective drills. This is interval training at its finest – rounds of intense activity followed by brief resting periods and/or lighter exercises. Interval training has been proven again and again to be the most effective method of burning fat, building lean muscle and building endurance.
What do I Need?
We provide most of the equipment – sand bags, tall punching bags, medicine balls, jump ropes, ladders, crash pads, etc. – but there are a few items you should bring. Wear athletic shoes (some instructors like to run drills outside) and comfortable workout clothes. Bring water and a towel (trust us, you’ll get sweaty). We recommend fingerless leather workout gloves to protect your knuckles from pad and bag work and a long resistance band too.
Is it Right For Me?
We won’t lie – this is a difficult workout. But our classes our structured to engage people at all fitness levels. How do we do that? Simply by offering modifications that let a brand new member work as hard as our elite veterans. Our instructors will offer these modifications with no prompting, but feel free to ask for additional assistance whenever you need it. Bottom line – this class is right for you if you’re ready to burn fat, built muscle and improve your cardiovascular health.
I’m Scared. Should I be Scared?
Nah. It’s a serious workout, but even if you’re straight off the couch, you can get through it with modifications. It’ll be difficult, but nothing worth doing comes easy. Make it through the first few classes by setting mini goals for yourself – finishing a set, going until failure, keeping up with the person next to you. And keep coming back! Consistency is the secret to success for any fitness plan, and this is no different. Our members routinely praise the sense of community and camaraderie at Freestyle Fitness – there’s no intimidation factor here (beyond the workout itself – and that’s a good thing). We’re all working towards similar goals of health and wellness. If you’re ready to do the same, let’s get to work.
